BSK was founded in 1933 and still carries its original name and spirit colors, blue and white. The team first appeared at the Salzburg Post-War championship in 1945/46, representing the inner mountain region (Pongau, Pinzgau, Lungau). Between the 1950 ́s and 1960 ́s, a time where the best Salzburg soccer teams were switching back and forth between amateur and professional operations, the Pongau based team had their first big success. In the 1955/56 season, the team won their first championship.
From 1967 to 1970, BSK was the best club from the Salzburg region in the West Regional League. In the same year, the club was recognized as one of three clubs with a sponsorship within the league.
The promotion into the National League in 1969/70 didn’t succeed for Bischofshofen yet. But, in 1970/71 BSK was victorious and were promoted to the highest league in Austria. The time on the top was short lived, after one year BSK was demoted. After some difficult years, Bischofshofen found themselves in the fourth league, in 1978 where they stayed for consecutive years.
1985-88 was a period were BSK managed to make it back to the third league before disappearing for a while in lower leagues.
It took till 2014/15 and the restructuring of the leagues, to make a comeback. Since then, and with a new management, things rapidly changed. The club captured the league title in 2017/18, therefore bringing them back into third league soccer in Austria for the first time in 30 years. Up till now, BSK has maintainedthat level and are going strong.
